October-Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is national breast cancer awareness month and the focus is on early detection and screenings, including mammograms and breast health education. Each year more than 250,000 women get breast cancer and more than 42,000 die from the disease. While most cancers are found in women 50 years and older, breast cancer affects younger women too. Men also get breast cancer, but it is not common. About 1 out of every 100 breast cancers diagnosed are found in men. Check with your health care provider about early detection and screenings. October 16th is National Mammography Day. For additional information, visit nationalbreastcancer.org
